Senator David Vitter Signs Pledge

U.S. Senator David Vitter from Louisiana signed the No Climate Tax pledge at AFP’s Hot Air Tour stop in Baton Rouge.

As the Waxman-Markey cap and trade bill limps around the House, the real fight will likely be in the Senate. The only question that remains is, once all of the central planners get done buying support for this terribly costly bill, what will be left?

Senator Barbara Boxer, who will be attempting to shepherd cap and trade through the Senate, admitted that the process of advancing such flawed legislation necessitates buying votes. She is quoted in a National Journal story as saying:

“There’s so much revenue that comes in from a cap-and-trade system that you can really go to a person in a congressional district and get enough votes there by saying, ‘What do you need? What do you want? You can really help them.”

The more senators we can put on record opposing using climate change legislation as a vehicle to increase the size and scope of government the better chance we have of defeating this bill. We are glad to add Senator Vitter to our list of signers.
